Spiritual Relationships Part 2 Let's stay on the subject of spiritual relationships for a minute……….. Everywhere we look sexual driven themes are pretty much overwhelming. It has become both influential and entertaining. Take a moment and consider dating and social meeting. Often times, we quickly assume that a person is in our life or crosses our path for a physical agenda or for all of you who are not willing to admit that, at least the path to a physical agenda. Interestingly, we save platonic relationships for the “less attractive” or the “they're okay” people in our lives. Still, there is a spiritual principle here if we only would find it. Those “less attractive and ok” people almost always become the most important people in our lives because we quickly dismiss the fast path of sexual tension and curiosity and sincerely welcome friendship. We eventually realize that they are wonderful, caring, and cautious and yes, beautiful. That's why it is difficult for some of you to explain your deep-rooted attraction to your friend whom you've known since forever. You're not crazy. Let me explain. We actually allow relationships with these people in our lives to process. Process is God's way of healthy development. He intended the relational part of the human experience to be just that, an experience and not an event. An experience produces knowledge while an event produces thrills. Because of so many misconceptions of friendship, we often times on this journey of understanding relationships, find ourselves wanting to be alone in crucial times. I was told and I paraphrase that a person needs a best friend when they want to be alone. No agenda, no plans,…… just friends. Unfortunately, you can barely sell a movie on these credentials or much less, a music video. Consequently, these are common tools people choose to pattern their lives after. Now as a result, we have no idea how to just BE …… without agenda. Take a week and evaluate the following…… This week I introduce a personal intimate song found on my Soul Sessions project entitled, “Don't Call ( come get me )” …………Yes……… A selfish plug. Friendship is more than important. It's defining. Read the words and of course I encourage you to get the album. (chorus) Leon Timbo |
